Martial arts training gives children and pre-teens everything they need to grow into adulthood with grace and clarity. They’ll learn how to move through life with self-respect and persistence. By treating themselves and others with dignity, they’ll discover the benefits of discipline and how it can help them to achieve their goals.
Not only are they getting healthier as they learn martial arts, they’re also learning life skills. When you enroll your child in our Juniors martial arts class, you’re giving them much more than the physical skills we teach. You’re giving them the opportunity to thrive and excel in life.
WE’RE A FAMILY
Our unique 7-12-year-old, life-skill programme provides families with practical tools to compliment parenting. Considered by our parents and students as an extension of their family unit, and as a partner in parenting their child, our ‘on the mats’ life-skill education, your child will learn how to make positive choices to everyday life scenarios off the mats.
At this age, your child will become noticeably more independent and start to value their peer groups opinions and views as they form friendships, they often want to be considered more equal in their family group and value being treated fairly. You may find your child wanting your child to have a say in what they wear, eat or want to do.
According to a studies, it’s noted that Martial Arts helps boost children’s’ self-esteem and focus. Unlike most team sports, at Excel we focus on self-development, not on team competition, this is of particular benefit for children who think and learn differently.

S.E.N.D. programme
Here, at Excel Martial Arts, we aren’t an academy that has favourite students. Through our S.E.N.D. programme, we proudly mentor students who have different ways of understanding and learning. I often hear about bullying in academys . I wanted my children to become more confident and have the skills to defend their self if they have to. My boys joined Excel Martial Arts at the beginning of 2021. It was recommended to us by one of the academy Mums. They loved it straight away. The coaches are very professional, great with children. After seeing their success, I took the opportunity to join the Ladies kickboxing class , and never looked back since. I tried many exercise classes, running , gym.. but never stuck to anything. This is the first exercise what I thoroughly enjoy. My boys made lots of friends, enjoy going on Excel events like Jump Inc., Halloween and recently signed up for their first Summer camp with Excel. Earning Black Belt requires dedication and hard work, and attending training sessions at least twice a week proves highly beneficial for students. This frequency allows for the necessary repetition and practice, fostering engagement and success in making progress. Opting for training at Excel is not just a choice; it's a commitment to the Black Belt goal and beyond, reflecting a lifestyle choice dedicated to personal growth and achievement.
Our junior program incorporates confidence, self-defence, respect & kindness, all essential skills to prevent bullying & help those who are being bullied. Your child will learn how to have a positive self-image, use their voice and carry themself with confidence.
Martial arts is not about violence. Instead, they teach students how to coordinate their movements and use them in a controlled way. Martial arts students increase their strength and flexibility, both of which can help them to handle themselves with confidence.
